PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING
Dear AISM Community,
I am delighted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Principal for the Australian International School of Malaysia. It has been wonderful getting to know many of the students, staff and families of our magnificent school over the past few days. What an amazing school we have! There is a palpable sense of school spirit, excitement, care for one another and a joy for learning in the air! I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students and families to our school community. I know that we will all make them feel very welcome.
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend a warm welcome to all students, parents, faculty, and staff to the Australian International School of Malaysia. As the incoming Principal of this esteemed institution, I am thrilled to join with you for another academic year filled with exciting opportunities, growth, and success.
At AISM, we strive to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, creativity, and character development. Our commitment to providing a world-class education is reflected in our dedicated team of educators, state-of-the-art facilities, and a curriculum that integrates the best practices from both Australian and international education systems.
I am delighted to share with you the outstanding academic achievements of our Year 12 students from the past academic year. It brings me great joy to announce that our dedicated students have excelled academically and achieved the following:
- An impressive 50% of them achieved scores that place them in the top 15% of all students.
- 2 of our students received marks that placed them in the top 1% of all students.
- 42% of our students were Distinguished Achievers. This means that they were in the top 10% for specific subjects.
- We had a 100% pass rate for the HSC with all our grade 12 students passing their exams.
These remarkable accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support they receive from our exceptional teaching faculty. As a school community, we take pride in nurturing an environment that fosters academic excellence, and we celebrate these remarkable results as a reflection of our collective commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. Congratulations to our Year 12 students for their remarkable accomplishments, and we look forward to witnessing their continued success in their future endeavours.
However, our school is not just a place of great learning; it is a vibrant community where students are encouraged to explore their passions, embrace diversity, and develop the skills necessary to become global citizens. We believe in cultivating a love for learning that goes beyond the classroom, preparing students for a future that is dynamic and ever-evolving.
As we embark on this journey together, I encourage you to actively engage with the school community, participate in various events, and take advantage of the numerous opportunities for collaboration and personal growth. Our doors are always open, and we welcome your input and feedback as we work together to create an enriching and fulfilling educational experience for every student.
I am confident that this academic year will be one of achievements, discoveries, and memorable moments. Let us join hands in shaping a bright future for our students and fostering a sense of pride in being part of the AISM family.
Wishing you all a successful and rewarding academic year ahead!

2024 at AISM has kicked off with an amazing start - lots of smiles, laughter and learning as students and teachers reconnect, meet new friends and navigate what 2024 at school looks like for them.
“Success is about being your best self, not about being better than others; failure is an opportunity, not a condemnation; effort is the key to success. The best thing we can do is to teach our children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning.”
- Carol S. Dweck - author and educator on a Growth Mindset
We encourage our students to be Visible Learners who love a challenge and see mistakes as an opportunity to learn more and grow - 2024 sees the Junior School open with more classes, more students and new teachers - growing in both size and opportunity for all.
The Junior School has settled after a solid start, a Thursday break and a fabulous Australia Day Celebration so capably led by our school captains from all sections of the school.
Our Junior School Captains thoughts on “What makes us proud to be Australian” or “Proud to be at the Australian School”
Today, we're not only celebrating Australia Day but also what it truly means to be Australian. It's about mateship, diversity, and the spirit of giving it a go!" - Baxter Janett
"Being Australian means embracing our stunning landscapes, our unique wildlife, and, of course, our love for a good old BBQ. But it's also about respecting our history and the diverse cultures that make Australia what it is today." - Frankie Jones

"If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don’t have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence."
- Carol S. Dweck
