PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING
Aaron Wise, Principal

Welcome to the 2025 school year!
It has been wonderful to see our campus bustling with activity once again, as we welcome new families to the Australian International School Malaysia and greet returning families who have rejoined us for another exciting year. Together, we form a vibrant and inclusive school community that embraces growth, learning, and connection.
This year is particularly special as we celebrate 25 years of excellence at AISM. Over the past two and a half decades, our school has grown into a thriving community that nurtures well-rounded, global-minded students prepared to make a difference in the world. Throughout the year, we will mark this significant milestone with events and initiatives that honour our history while looking forward to an exciting future.
To launch our 25-year celebrations, we are delighted to invite parents to a special 25th Anniversary Assembly. This assembly will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, 14 February. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to reflect on our journey and celebrate this incredible milestone.

Today, we also kicked off the year with our Australia Day celebrations, a tradition that not only honours our Australian heritage, but also brings to life the values of mateship, inclusivity, and respect that are central to both Australian culture and the ethos of AISM. From students and staff proudly donning Australian colours to engaging in fun and meaningful activities that highlight the spirit of Australia, the day was filled with energy, unity, and joy.
At AISM, our Australian culture forms the foundation of our learning environment, fostering an open, innovative, and collaborative approach. It encourages our students to embody resilience, creativity, and global-mindedness. These qualities are celebrated throughout the year as we blend the richness of Australian values with the diversity of our international community.
As part of our 25th-anniversary celebrations, we are also excited to announce that we will be strengthening our connections with Australian learning institutions and companies this year. These partnerships will create opportunities to enhance our programs and provide unique benefits to our students, preparing them for a bright future in an increasingly connected world.
As we move forward into Term 1, there are many exciting opportunities ahead for our students to learn, grow, and thrive. I encourage all families—new and returning—to immerse yourselves in our school events, connect with our community, and be a part of the experiences that make AISM so special.
Thank you for your trust and partnership in your child’s education. Let us make 2025 a year to remember!
JUNIOR SCHOOL
Michelle Chaplin, Head of Junior School
2025 is the year to thrive at AISM as we celebrate 25 years of academic excellence. As Goldiloocks would say, “Not too old, not too young - just right!”
I thought I would ask some students in the very first week of the term what has been excellent so far…
Year 1 - Reading about the Octopus, creating our adjective monsters, writing about my holiday and learning so much English and Maths.
Year 5 - All the games, meeting new friends, lots of choices in learning, the first day of school was so exciting and the teachers made sure everyone was included.
Year 3 - This first week of school has been amazing! We’ve had new lessons that we didn’t have in Year 2 like Computer Science and Drama, and we created a time capsule to see how we change over the year, and our art was all about one-point perspective, and the car was going off into the distance.
Many students are convinced this year will be the best ever and many teachers say the same. Congratulations to our teachers, parents and students for a fabulous start to the year!
Week 1 has certainly been a full five days with a wonderful Friday Celebration of Australia Day!
