ADVENTURE, CHALLENGE & GROWTH
Real-World Learning
At Australian International School Malaysia (AISM), we believe some of the most powerful learning happens when students step outside their comfort zone. Our trips, camps and International Award programs offer rich opportunities for personal growth, resilience and global awareness, preparing students to thrive in school and beyond.

Camps are more than just outdoor fun, they are a chance for students to discover new strengths, develop friendships and gain the confidence to face challenges. Each year level experiences a camp that is tailored to their stage of development:
Junior School Camps
Overnight experiences begin in Year 2 with a camp at school, progressing to 2–3 night residential trips in Port Dickson and Desaru. These adventures build teamwork, confidence and fun in a safe, supportive environment.
Middle School Camps
Our 3–4 night residential trips challenge students with activities such as hiking, kayaking and team-building, helping them build confidence and perseverance. These adventures take place across Malaysia, offering memorable experiences.
Senior School Camps
In Senior School, students join 3–4 night camps across Malaysia, with destinations like Penang and Broga Hills, building confidence, teamwork and independence through planning, navigation and group challenges.
Learning Beyond Borders
Experiential Learning in Australia – Year 11
Our Year 11 students take part in an immersive learning experience in Perth, including visits to the University of Western Australia, Curtin University or the University of Notre Dame. Designed to push them beyond their comfort zones, the program encourages students to become active participants in their own learning journey. Through workshops in leadership, teamwork, public speaking and confidence building, they develop critical and creative thinking, communication, problem-solving and goal-setting skills that prepare them for future success.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
Students at AISM have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a globally recognised program that nurtures personal growth and holistic development. Beginning in Year 8, all students embark on their first Duke of Edinburgh’s Award camp, where they hike over 30km, kayak, cycle and rock climb, building teamwork, determination and a true sense of achievement as they earn their Bronze Award.
As they progress through Middle and Senior School, students can continue on to the Silver and Gold Awards in our CCA program, developing resilience and leadership while making meaningful contributions to the wider community through service, skill development, physical recreation and adventurous journeys.
