Frequently Asked
Questions

What Is Different About the Australian Curriculum?

Based on the New South Wales (NSW) Curriculum, we teach children how to think, to analyse, to adapt and learn for themselves, both in and beyond the classroom. Your child is taught the skills to be an independent thinker, work collaboratively and take calculated risks.

In senior years, the Australian Curriculum focuses on providing a breadth of subjects instead of just specialising in either Science or Arts. Research shows that employers and universities prefer students who have a broad range of skills. With this in mind, the Australian curriculum has been developed for your child’s academic and career success in the 21st Century.

What Ages Does The Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) Cater For?

We accept students from age 3 (Preparation) to age 18 (Year 12). Students sit for the Higher School Certificate (HSC) in Year 12, which is equivalent to Pre-University.

Once you have applied and received confirmation of a place at AISM, your child will need to complete an entrance assessment (Only for Years 1-11). This assessment can be completed online in our Admissions office or under supervision in your home country school.
