INSPIRING CONFIDENCE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Empowering Leaders
At Australian International School Malaysia (AISM), leadership skills are developed through experience, guidance and opportunity. The Australian Curriculum emphasises personal and social capabilities, encouraging students to discover their strengths, work with others and make a positive impact.
From class representatives to service leaders, students are given real opportunities to lead, share their ideas and take initiative. With the support of dedicated mentors, they build teamwork, empathy and decision making skills that prepare them to be confident, compassionate leaders.
Leadership Development at AISM
Our leadership program develops skills from Junior School to Year 12 through training, mentorship and real-world experiences that build confidence, resilience and responsibility. Students further grow as leaders through our extensive co-curricular activities, showcasing their abilities in sports, the arts and academics, including Model United Nations (MUN), The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) and the World Scholar’s Cup.

By the time they graduate, AISM students are prepared to take on leadership roles with confidence, empathy and a strong sense of responsibility, ready to make a positive impact in any path they choose.
Leadership in Practice
Leadership opportunities at AISM span the whole school, beginning in Junior School and progressing to advanced roles in the senior years. Students build confidence, responsibility and collaboration skills through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences not only by taking on leadership positions, but also by hosting assemblies, running events and leading initiatives that make a real impact within the school community.

Class Representatives
Students across all year levels are encouraged to represent their peers, share ideas and promote active engagement within their classes.

House Captains & Vice Captains
Leading by example, these students help organise major house events such as the Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnival, fostering teamwork and school spirit.

Service Leaders
Driving service learning and charity initiatives and events, these leaders work to make a positive impact in the school and wider community while building empathy and global awareness.

Specialist Leadership Roles
Opportunities for students to lead in areas they are passionate about including the Arts, Sports and the Environment, motivating and inspiring their peers through targeted activities and projects.

Junior School Parliament
From Foundation to Year 5, students lead the Junior School Parliament several times a year, sharing ideas on what’s working well and what could be improved at AISM. Their discussions drive real, actionable change, helping to make school life better, together.

Leadership Assemblies & Events
At AISM, student leadership is woven into everyday school life. Our student leaders regularly take the stage to lead school-wide assemblies, inspire their peers and represent the student voice. They also spearhead service-learning initiatives that make a real difference to both our school and the wider community.
