Creativity, collaboration and plenty of laughter took centre stage at Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) as our Middle and Senior School Drama Club presented Puffs! across three performances from 30 July to 1 August. Bringing together 42 students on stage and behind the scenes, the production showcased the strength of Performing Arts at AISM and the confidence, teamwork and creativity students develop beyond the classroom.
Performing Arts at Australian International School Malaysia
The Middle and Senior School Drama Club production of Puffs! was the result of months of preparation, rehearsals and collaboration. Across three performances, students brought the production to life for an audience of fellow students, staff, parents and friends.
While the performers took centre stage, a successful school theatre production involves much more than the cast. A total of 42 AISM students contributed across acting, backstage support, costumes and makeup, promotions, sound and lighting.
Each role required students to take responsibility, solve problems and collaborate towards a shared goal — demonstrating how Performing Arts education can develop skills that extend well beyond the stage.
Building Confidence and Creativity Through Drama
At AISM, learning extends beyond academics. Drama, Music, Visual Arts, sport and a wide range of co-curricular activities give students opportunities to discover their interests while developing confidence, communication, creativity and teamwork.
Participating in a live theatre production allows students to experience the entire creative process. From learning lines and developing characters to managing technical cues, preparing costumes and coordinating backstage movements, every contribution matters.
For our Middle and Senior School students, Puffs! provided an authentic opportunity to take creative risks, support their peers and experience the satisfaction of seeing months of preparation come together in front of a live audience.
These experiences are an important part of the holistic Australian education offered at AISM, where students are encouraged to discover their strengths and pursue opportunities across academics, sport, leadership and the Arts.
Bringing the AISM Community Together
Performing Arts also has a wonderful ability to bring a school community together.
Puffs! saw students, teachers, parents and friends gather to celebrate the creativity and commitment of our young performers and production team.

A special thank you goes to Drama teacher Ms Emily, whose direction, leadership and commitment guided students throughout the production and helped create a memorable experience for everyone involved.
